East Gate - East Gate is the new complex which is just a 2 minute walk from the Thomas Arms. We now have Y Ffwrnes, a new modern style theatre which holds many musicals, promotes performances from local stage schools and well known British comedians and other acts, why not join us for a Theatre break weekend? The international cinema chain Odeon has just opened within the Eastgate area and boast 5 multiplex screens and has a well known coffee shop inside.
Llanelli House - Currently undergoing a £6 million refurbishment generously given by the National Lottery grant, it is being restored to it's early Goergian glory. This is due to open in Autumn of 2013, it is one of Llanelli's oldest buildings dating back to the early 1700's. .. in 2003 it made the final for BBC's restoration programme which helped to promote the Georgian Town House.This is well worth a visit as it will boast not only the restored town house but many attractions inside.
Parc Howard - This is one of Llanelli's hidden treasures. Owned by Lady and Lord Howard and kindly donated to the people of Llanelli. The manor is now a museum showing exhibiting the history of Llanelli and including donated pieces form our very hotel. During the summer months it holds many bowling tournaments, has lovely play areas for children and is a pleasure to stroll around the well kept gardens.
Stradey Castle - Llanelli's Secret location!
A set piece Victorian house virtually unchanged since the 19th century and owned by 4th generation family Lord Leutenant of Dyfed and Lady Claire Mansel Lewis. Still under restoration, the house contains a fine collection of paintings by the current owners great-grandfathers and his artist friends and contemporaries.
The woodland gardens contains a good collection of interesting trees and shrubs which suit the mild moist climate and acid soil to be found in Stradey.
Ffos Las racecourse - Ffos Las racecourse is one of only three racecourses in Wales, and is indeed the first National Hunt course to be completed in Britain for over 80 years. The 600 acre complex is situated near Trimsaran, in west Wales, on what used to be the largest open cast mining site in Europe. - why not check out our 'Stay and Play at the Races' special offer?
Parc y Scarlets Stadium - Parc y Scarlets officially opened in November 2008, replacing Stradey Park. It has hosted Heineken Cup games, Wales U20 rugby internationals and the 2009 Welsh FA Cup final.
Machynys Penisula Golf & Country Club - A modern links style layout overlooking Carmarthen Bay and the Gower Peninsula and home to the European Tours 'Ladies Championship of Europe. Machynys Peninsula Golf & Country Club is situated on the site of a sixth century monastery, hence the name Monks Health Club which houses a 35-station gym with luxury spa facilities, jacuzzi, beauty treatment rooms, steam and sauna and a specialist room.
